IFSMgr: Inside the Windows 95 File System Companion Disk README.TXT -------------- 4/23/97 This diskette contains source code and binaries for the utilities and samples which accompany the book. To install these materials on your system run SETUP from the diskette or from a location where you have copied the diskette. The SETUP program will allow you to select three different options: Binaries, Source Code, and Development Tools. You may install one or more options. If you decide later to install additional files, you can do so but only to the original install directory. A program folder is created during installation. By default the installation directory will be "C:\WIN95IFS"; you may enter an alternate destination for the installation. To remove the installed utilities and source code you must run the UNINSTAL program. This may be done in several ways: 1. Execute UNINSTAL from the shortcut icon in the Win95ifs program folder 2. From Control Panel's "Add/Remove Programs" applet, select: "Inside Win95 File System". 3. From the original diskette or copy of it, find UNINSTAL.EXE and execute it directly. Using the UNINSTAL program is necessary because entries are made in the registry which would otherwise not be removed. *** This is especially important with MultiMon, since it uses the registry for installing static VxDs. *** For more information on MultiMon see Appendices A and B of the book. For more information on setting up your environment to build the samples on this diskette, read the file BUILD.TXT under the \WIN95IFS\FSDEV directory. Note: FSINFILE is an experimental file system that is still "rough around the edges". Not all FSD functions are implemented and it should be accompanied by a Network Provider DLL. However, I feel these deficiencies outweigh it usefulness.
